Interested in Joining Campus Compost?

Have you been keeping close watch on UWCC events and want to join? Well look no further because executive positions are now open for the Spring 2019 term. You can lead the team, work on our social media presence, or even take over for this blog (I know you can do it!).

Here is a list of roles and their descriptions, as well as an email link if you would like to apply and be a part of the team!

No prior experience with the club is required, just a desire to promote zero waste practices on campus.

Project Lead (1 of 2)

The Lead is in charge of well, being in charge. You will organize exec activities, weekly club meetings, continue the development of long-term projects as well as establish new ones. Lastly, you will make sure that the team you are leading feels supported so that the club continues to make new ground in promoting zero waste practices.

You will also double as a Sustainable Campus Initiative (SCI) exec. This means you will also attend SCI meetings, support some of their other projects, as well as hold weekly office hours.

Both SCI and a returning Lead will be there to help you transition into the role.

Operations Director (2 of 2)

The Operations Directors are the backbone of our composting service. They manage the team of volunteers and make sure organics collection and processing runs smoothly. We also have a lot of compost to giveaway, so they will help distribute it to community members and find new takers for our compost.

There will be documents that need to be managed as well. They will ensure the data we collect is accurate so we have an idea of how much waste we are collecting and what kinds of items we are finding. It is a big job and for that reason there are two Operations Directors to support each other!

Social Media Coordinator (1)

Do you think that you are a social slayer or a meme master? Then this position is perfect for you! The social media executive is in charge of the UWCC’s social media accounts, which include Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. They will maintain a regular posting schedule on our Instagram, while also promoting upcoming events and zero waste practices on our other channels. We are excited to ROFL from your amazing posts!

Marketing Director (1)

This position involves writing these blogs (I am excited to see what you can do), creating marketing materials such as posters and a sorting guide, and working with the other representatives to market the club at boothing events, so that everyone knows what Campus Compost is up to!

Events Coordinator (1)

The Events Coordinator is responsible for planing monthly activities that promote zero waste practices. For example, in the past we have had movie nights, DIY toothpaste, and participated in the Indigenous Centre’s Soup and Bannock Day.

More importantly for the Spring term, they will play a major part in developing a new major Zero Waste event for Waste Reduction Week in the Fall. Given the scale of our ambition, much of the early planning must be completed in the Spring. This is a brand new event, so we hope you’re ready to bring it to life!

HR (1)

Human Resources will be responsible for volunteer recruitment, communications, and administrative tasks. These may include things such as sending member emails through Mailchimp, organizing class presentations to attract volunteers, room booking, researching collaboration opportunities, and general upkeep of documents. This executive role beckons those who are willing to learn about a common work experience outside of university!

What Next?

Do any of these roles peak your interest? If they do, make sure to send an email to uwcampuscompost@gmail.com, and give a short description as to why you would be perfect for the position. Also feel free to send us your questions if you’d like to know more. We hope to see you in spring!
